Popular topics

Whether you're after an impactful keynote or interactive workshop, here's five topics Lacey's audiences have loved:

1
Mythbusters: The Finance Edition

"Own your own home." "Make voluntary superannuation contributions." "The lower earner stays home to look after the kids." So many financial rules of thumb ...aren't. There's no one-size-fits-all approach to money. You need to know when well-meaning advice and adages suit your situation - and when they don't. In this 45-minute keynote, Lacey runs through a handful of heuristics and shows both the maths and the emotional considerations to help your audience work out what works for them, and when.

2
Engineering a Time Rich Life

Lacey has a superpower that most personal finance presenters don't. She's right at home in hi-vis clothing. Owing to her background as an engineer and working in the mining industry for over a decade, Lacey's frank and funny style particularly appeals to mining, construction and resources audiences. ...and she couldn't resist the opportunity to convert the Financial Independence (FI) Supply framework to a process flow diagram (IYKYK) for this 60-minute keynote.

3
Make the Most of Your Money

There are only three universal rules for personal finance: 1. Save 2. Buy assets 3. Avoid bad debt. In this workshop, Lacey explains those rules and how to apply them. It's aimed at groups who want (and need!) fundamental finance knowledge, or can be adapted for audiences craving more advanced concepts around investing and portfolio construction. Delivered in person or online, this workshop can run from 30 to 90 minutes, depending on the level of detail you're after.

4
Risk Management 101

Worry is the absence of a plan. This interactive workshop pins down those worries and creates the plan to deal with them so your audience can sleep well at night. Ideal for audiences with varied backgrounds and financial acumen, we focus on identifying what could go wrong and helping attendees prevent and mitigate those risks. It's the ultimate antidote to the financial stress. Allow 60 minutes at a minimum.

5
Gender and Money

Money doesn't care about your gender ... but society does. It's not just women who pay a vulva tax in the form of the gender pay gap, motherhood penalty, retirement gap and the unpaid caring load. We all cop it, and it leads to the Gender Available Savings Penalty. You really will GASP when you see what that means! Lacey lays out the facts, the systemic changes needed, and empowers women with that they can do while we wait for change to close their own personal finance gender gap. This keynote can be between 10 and 60 minutes, depending on the depth required.

About Lacey

There's a reason Lacey's TEDx talk on financial independence has over a million views: it's fascinating, relatable and inspiring. She started saving 50% of every dollar received at10, kicked off her investing career with a property at 19, and was working her way towards her life goal of CEO when disaster struck: She burned out, ending up bed-ridden for over a month. Soon after she recovered, Lacey's little sister Megan ended her own life. It was the turning point that led Lacey to work towards financial independence so she could become time rich - which she achieved at 31.

...and she's not just a speaker:

Lacey is also:

a financial educator and founder of successful education business Money School.
current Head of Financial Wellness at fintech Maslow.
a chemical engineer, having graduated as Valedictorian from UQ in 2003, making her an excellent example of a non-linear or portfolio career!
an international award-winning author, commissioned by Penguin Random House to write her first non-fiction book, Money School: Become financially independent and reclaim your time.
a regular media commentator, contributing extensively on personal financial education topics for radio, TV and online articles.
an event organiser's dream talent, having been on the organising end for several in person and virtual conferences. She can fit any format you've got in mind.
not afraid to pull crazy facial expressions on stage :)
